Despite the movie reviews these big critics say, Suicide Squad wasn’t really all that bad. Suicide squad is a movie about 6 hardened criminals most of which are in jail because of the Batman. After the death of superman (Oops. Spoiler alert for Batman V Superman), the US government was afraid that the next superman would be a terrorist. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) thought to put the meanest villains together and put them to good use and thus the birth of task force X, A.K.A the Suicide Squad. Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Slipknot (Adam Beach), all dangerous criminals and members of the suicide squad. The squad was called into action when an ancient entity, feeling betrayed by humans, decides to end it all.
The movie wasn’t all that bad, really! Given there are some flaws to it when it comes to story telling, the action sequences were
amazing. One thing you’ll notice is that the movie assumes you know enough about these characters to love them. Given the movie did give out some introduction for each one of them, it simply wasn’t enough for my taste. Also, the premise of the story feels forced. It’s like Batman V Superman where they come up with some weird story just to get Batman and Superman to fight. Same thing happens to this movie. They came up with some weird story just so the Suicide Squad can go out and fight. If you’ve been paying attention to the trailers, you’ll notice that there are some scenes in the trailer that never made it to the big screen. This may have contributed to the unbalanced opinions between critics and fans.
Margot Robbie and Will Smith did a fantastic job in the movie. They definitely gave that serious and crazy vibe into the movie. You could always count on Will Smith to lighten up a serious mood without ruining it. Hats off to these two! Now, for the Joker! The Joker isn’t really part of the Suicide Squad, and doesn’t have the same goal as they do. He has his own agenda to deal with. Given it does involve the Squad, but not as much as you think. Unlike Heath Ledger’s joker, this Joker is a mob boss. Heath Ledger’s joker was the type to not care about money, he’s just there for the LOLs. This Joker is clearly seen with fancy clothes, shiny bling, and cool cars which tells you that this guy values money. That aside, his craziness isn’t all that different. Hats of to Jared Leto for that one too! Almost forgot! The soundtrack in the movie is great! Definitely fits with the movie perfectly!
Conclusion
All in all I entered this movie thinking I was going to have a bad time. Boy was I wrong! This movie did have its flaws. But when I walked out, I would say that I had fun. This movie is definitely worth watching on the big screen!
